Staff Attorney Britney Wilson Featured by ESPN’s The Undefeated
ESPN’s The Undefeated recently highlighted the work of NCLEJ Staff Attorney Britney Wilson as part of a tribute to legendary radio host and media personality, Tom Joyner. Britney was the first winner of the Tom Joyner Foundation Full Ride HBCU Scholarship in 2008. She attended Howard University, a historically Black college or university (HBCU). Britney describes her life growing up in Brooklyn and how her experiences and time at Howard helped shape her advocacy.
Britney’s work at NCLEJ focuses on the criminalization of poverty, abusive debt collection practices, and disability rights. Britney represents residents of Buffalo challenging discriminatory police practices, residents of Montgomery challenging a court system that imposes punitive fines and fees for traffic offenses, and Michigan residents with disabilities challenging budget changes that harm their ability to maintain essential community living supports. NCLEJ is proud to have Britney on our team fighting for justice.
