NCLEJ and Legal Aid Society of DC Lawsuit Challenges Unlawful Delays of SNAP Benefits

NCLEJ files suit with the Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia and Hogan Lovells against the DC Department of Human Services (DHS) for its failure to process and provide timely Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to needy families. The suit alleges that the flawed implementation of its new computer system exacerbated existing problems with DHS’s administration of SNAP benefits, causing significant delays for new applicants and terminating thousands of recipient’s benefits without notice.
