Nick Wertsch

Associate General Counsel for CIW

Nick Wertsch is the Associate General Counsel for the Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW), a worker-based human rights organization internationally recognized for its achievements in fighting human trafficking and gender-based violence at work, particularly in agriculture. CIW created the Fair Food Program (FFP), a groundbreaking model for social responsibility based on a unique partnership among farmworkers, Florida tomato growers, and participating buyers.

Previously, at the Workers Defense Project, Nick provided direct legal representation to immigrant construction workers and supported policy campaigns for living wages, safe working conditions, and independent worksite monitoring. He also worked at Georgetown University’s Kalmanovitz Initiative for Labor and the Working Poor as the Director of Organizing and is a graduate of Georgetown Law’s Evening Program.
