NCLEJ Joins with Allies to Advocate for Fair Housing

Last week, NCLEJ joined with nearly 600 allies, including colleague legal advocacy nonprofits, grassroots groups, foundations, churches, private companies, and individuals to oppose any attempt by the Department of Housing and Urban Development to abandon communities of color.

Five hundred and seventy three signatories sent a letter to HUD Secretary Ben Carson in response to reports that HUD was considering removing references to creating “inclusive and sustainable communities free from discrimination.”  Such a decision would be a direct contradiction of the Fair Housing Act, and a slap in the face to families who rely on HUD’s work to ensure access to housing free from discrimination.  Read the letter here.
